The KARDASHIAN Bunch At 2011 Kids Choice Awards

The Kardashians at the 2011 Kids' Chioce Awards

For some reason, the blogging world lit up with "Kardashian, Kardashian, Kardashian" at the People's Choice Awards. I guess they really are extremely popular (it still boggles my mind how Kim K has nearly 7 million followers on Twitter, more than most artists!) and of course they're gorgeous but WOW. Heyy... they got my attention, too.

Check out the pic above at how Kylie and Kendall are taller than their older sisters Kim and Kourtney. I can clearly see that Jenner blood on the younger girls. Check out more pics:

BEYONCE's Making A Massive Comeback, But These Pics Don't Look Like It, Though...

Beyonce Photo Shoot New Jerz

Fans were a little worried when BEYONCE wore this get-up for a music video, also sporting the "no eyebrows" looks; they really were alarmed. Even as I look at it, my mouth would utter, "What the FREAK is she DOING?!"

But to clear up any worries, Beyonce's above look is a character from the '70s, and will be seamlessly tied into other looks on the upcoming music video, AS WELL AS an unrelated photo shoot for a fashion house, which would explain the feathers and all kinds of crazy.

Can't wait for BEYONCE to make that comeback! "I Am... Sasha Fiece" did so well and made a lasting impression...

RIHANNA In Red, White, and Blue; BOYY.... God Bless America!!!

The "What's My Name" and "S&M" hitmaker RIHANNA was spotted paying a somewhat tribute to America with her frizzy red hair, all-white outfit, and blue Prada bag. She was spotted at her favorite restaurant, Philippe Chow.

One word: GORGEOUS.

Let's go over her accessories: You cannot mistake her denim Prada bag for $995 and her Miu Miu studded cutout flats for $695 (she has two other Miu Miu styles in tan and black, maybe more). Man, she's on point!

Sneaker of the Day: Chivalrous Culture Hamachi Sneakers

These are seriously some HOTT sneakers. Chivalrous Culture teamed up with Diggy Simmons to produce this fine sneaker (Diggy is quite the 16-year-old businessman) for the masses. The sneaker has a red bottom like Christian Loubotuin, patent leather upper, and just has FULL-ON SWAG.

It will be released April 25th. The first 35 buyers will receive a limited edition bow tie. Hmm... niiiice.

See more pics:

The sneakers look even better with the BOW TIE attached to it.

The Single Life - 7 Inches of Fun; featuring Nostalgia 77, Trent Fox & the Tenants, Fatal Figures, and Motorhead

Singles stacking up.  Time to get cracking.

Belleruche -3 Amp Fuse

London trio Belleruche delivers another stellar song “3 Amp Fuse.” It’s a beautiful throwback track that balances traditional techniques and electric beats. Lead singer Kathrin deBoer’s soothing voice echoes classic jazz and blues over a catchy beat making it hard to define.

Reminiscent of a classic 1970s music video, “3 Amp Fuse” is everything you want in a good music video- an awesome song with killer visuals that don’t detract from the song. The simple structure is compelling, creative and most of all, charming. Belleruche delivers another magnificent music video that captures your eyes and ears effectively without doing too much. In the age of nano-second attention spans, take notice because this is one helluva video.

Nostalgia 77 - Simmerdown b/w Skin and Bones

It's fitting that on my iTunes library, Nostalgia 77 is alphabetized right next to Nouvelle Vague.  Both bands mine a way-cool, retro lounge-ready vibe.  Where Nouvelle Vague specializes in jazz samba versions of classic 80's songs, Nostalgia 77 explores their own muse of downtempo, reggae-jazz inflected goodness.  "Simmerdown" is the first single from Nostalgia 77's 4th studio album and it's one to cherish.  Featuring the sexy, downright smoky vocals of German singer, Josa Peit, "Simmerdown" is what Bob Marley may have sounded like if he'd gotten into martinis, not herb.

Best as I can tell, Nostalgia 77 is the work of one producer/musician extraordinare, Benedic Lamdin, and together with vocalist Josa he's hit paydirt here.  "Simmerdown" is a lush yet ethereal must-play song for the end of the working day.  A song to lead in the nights romantic activities after the hectic pace has melted away.  Backside "Skin and Bones," brings a faint reggae pulse to the jazzy beat and plunks us down firmly in underground cool jazz lounge territory.  Again, Josa's voice is hypnotic and I'm falling deeply into her trance.

Trent Fox & The Tenants - Mess Around EP

Really an E.P., not a single but still, it made it's way to my player tonight, so there you have it.  Trent Fox and the Tenants crank the party up a couple of notches with some home-brewed, surf-laden, garage pop of the highest order.  "Mess Around" is pure garage-rock retro heaven with shrieks, "yeah, yeahs" and a damn singable chorus.  "Outta My Mind" is a time warp of amp-sliced fuzz and surf kicks with a stuttering beat and harmony vocal line straight outta 1964.  "Jokes!" ups the ante a bit with a The Beat-esque punk attitude and some killer surf guitar.  "Old Lady" and "Sounds Fine to Me" round out the set with the whole shebang clocking in at about 11 minutes playing time.

A brief burst of garage glory, like a flashing meteor.  Always cool when you when you catch one of those.

Fatal Figures - Blue Zed b/w Alright

Released earlier this year on Big Neck Records, the Fatal Figures are made up of Aaron, Tracy, and Scott from the Blowtops. After a decade of plowing one gushy vein of garage rock horror show after another with the Blowtops, the remaining members decided to move on and explore new territory.  While that sounds like something dramatic, in reality the Fatal Figures are doing what they've always done best.  This is pure garage punk-death rock n roll.  We got amped up, creeped-out Cramps here, some serious Pussy Galore and a whole lotta fun.

"Blue Zed" is the highlight here with Aaron Adduci being a hypnotizing front man.  I don't know what this cat takes before a show, but lock it up, you don't want that getting loose in public.  His vocals are a sputtered death moan of Boris Karloff meets The Sonics hysteria.  The bottom end of this song is purely subsonic.  An intense, mesmerizing listen. "Alright" is a Pussy Galore cover and really holds place until these cats dawn the creepshow punk and blast out their next original.   Released on blood red vinyl, of course.

Motorhead - Louie Louie b/w Tear Ya Down

Yeah, yeah, I know it's gonna cost you $10 to track one of these down on ebay, but damn if it isn't worth every freaking penny.  Find the one on Bronze records with the picture sleeve.  Just seeing Lemmy, Fast Eddie and Philthy Animal caged behind that fence is worth the ten bucks alone.  Damn, it looks like Philthy Animal is gonna eat his way outta that cage!  Priceless.

Oh, yeah, the music.  What can I say, it's Motorhead.  It's "Louie Louie".  It's rough and heavy and the meanest "Louie Louie" you've ever heard.  Yet it still grooves.  If you ever wanted to know if Motorhead could groove here's your answer.  A fricking fantastic cover with heavy riffage, killer solo and Lemmy in fine form.

Backside "Tear ya Down" is simply one of my favorite Motorhead songs ever.  Fast as anything from prime Motorhead time period, this is a pre-Ace of Spades explosion of Lemmy fury, Fast Eddie adrenaline and Philthy Animal Taylor rampage.  A killer chorus and tight songwriting.  This is kinda like the Ramones of the Motorhead catalog, meaning if it wasn't so powerful, heavy and frightening, somebody else could almost make this a pop song.  Love it.

In the end, this single has special meaning around the Ripple office.  Not only was it the first Motorhead single I ever bought (brand new, off the shelf), but when Pope and I first met this was one of our first musical bonding moments.  At one point I even gave him my copy as a gift.  Regrettably, it melted in the sun, so I went out a got another.  Got one for you too, Pope.

So brother, this ones for you.

MEAGAN GOOD Looks Different And Hotter In Men's Health Magazine

This picture should clear up any illness if a man read Men's Health.

Check out actress Meagan Good who recently did a photo shoot for Men's Health Magazine (I love me a good photo shoot; I get to be free and express myself in a nonverbal language). She looks very different with her long, dark brown locks finished with subtle bangs, and wearing WHITE, since she has lately been seen wearing BLACK, but both colors sure looks good on her.

LINDSAY LOHAN Falls Flat On Her Face-- In Style!!!

LIndsay Lohan

Well, I'm sure you all heard by now, BUT... it's different when you hear it from me, THE ONLY JAIDEN. Check it out-- Lindsay Lohan looked just great and bublly in her leopard fur coat, mini skirt, studded bag, and apparently DIFFICULT shoes--let's call it that.

Well, those difficult shoes caused Lindsay Lohan to fall flat on her face after leaving a restaurant in NYC. She insists that she was not drunk. Well... I guess it happens to the best of us.

But WOW, what a SPILL!!!!

BLOW-OUT Factor: Usher Wears Colorful Jil Sander Sweater For Photo Shoot; SIIICK!!!

What a great way to start your morning, such beautiful colors and a carefree attitude comes with the sweater that Usher wore in his photo shoot. I don't think I ever remember Usher, or any artist besides Kanye West, doing something so colorful. It looks so right, so bright, just right for the mood of SPRINGTIME!

Thumbs up to Usher once again for this Jil Sander striped knitted cotton sweater for $695. This can be worn right with dark denim jeans and Creative Recreation sneakers or multi-colored sneakers (that are within the sweater's hues).

VYGR - Hypersleep

It's kismet, karma, predestination, Newton's Third Law, Ørlǫg, Wyrd...

It's very definitely Doom, in its middle English and musical definitions: a preordained, generally negative or dreaded, outcome and a slow-moving, ugly sub-genre of heavy metal.

We've just got our hands on Hypersleep by VYRG, which we've previewed moderately ecstatically before...

The universe felt the jonsing here. The universe responded, one might daresay, rather expansively... (hence the above thesaurus-fest).

Hypersleep, it turns out, sounds like:

Cthulhu, drunk on peyote-laced nepenthe.

VYGR, elsewhere, have been called space rock, doom metal, ambient sludge-- but they're truly Epic Narrative Sludge or Tripped-Out Sci-fi doom: Hypersleep sounds like a sci-fi movie soundtrack, with sludge:

VYGR's use of space is one of the more distinct elements of their sound, beyond the sheer weight of the riffs
First track, "Solar," practically a snippet at two minutes-- at 1:38 proceeds spiderly, shimmering background tiny string leads, suggests the end of "The Thing That Should Not Be"....

"Flares" opens with Riff of Riffs, yet also (perhaps it's the keyboards in the background), sounds like it could be the soundtrack for the horror movie Terrence Malick will never make... the verse riff has a great fourth-based harmony that sounds maudlin and exultant at the same time, somewhat like Galactus playing Barber's Adagio for Strings... and at 3:26 there it is, the Pink Floyd phased-out/ flanged-in lick in E... perfectly compliments the heaviness... VYGR know to break the heavy periodically so when they get back to it, it seems even heavier... like letting someone you're waterboarding up periodically, instilling hope, and crushing again when they go back under....

That simile may not seem like it, but it's a fun experience, that....

 trudge, yet gracefully.

"Orbital Hallucinations," aka A Riffed Out Dark Side of the Moon, encapsulates the sound here overall: nightmare alternate-universe soundtracks to the original Solaris, or the underrated Pandorum....

There are obvious similarites to Isis and Pelican-- but whereas Pelican's dominant mood is maudlin, or melancholy, VYGR's is dread and exultation-- like a brave-yet-scared-shitless cosmonaut who lost contact with his mother ship, but may be drifting to a previously-undiscovered planet....

"Galactic Garbage," at around 4:00 hits what can only be described as a "leaden harp" section... majestic, 10-story harp of all gods, being fought over by Dionysus, Pan, and Kulitta... and at 4:44 exactly, drastically changes, yet retains the same melody-- like Cthulhu suddenly tired of watching the previous three fight and tore it from their insignificant hands....

Track 6, "-", a sweeper at 33 seconds, with its stirring, ambient sounds, like droids sleeping off nightmares....

"The Hidden": moody, sad, at 4:40 takes a breather and mourns... stately and funereal in its dignified pacing... triumphant and sad, the bittersweet ending of an epic trilogy....

"Shapeshifters," in its seeming familiarity, cements what was creeping up on our unconscious... the mighty music here is also catchy... 5:28 lays down RIFFness, like Cthulhu has had enough and destroys it all... as you watch... rapt.... as it fades to silence, and black, and diminuendo screaming....

"Unmoved Mover" and its twin guitar harmonies over a slug-trailing-blood riff: Iron Maiden risen from the depths to destroy the humans at Poseidon's bidding... then around 2:15 lopes off, into the depths, alone, existentially despondent, after its pillaging....

"Path to the Unknown" ushers in "Event Horizon" with bell-like acoustic guitars that become the rumble of a train next door... "We Drift" opens with spacey whale calls and palm-muted lurching riffs....

We end with "A Distant Beacon," with the encroaching silence and darkness, the gaining lack of light, with static and a sonar blip, as we feel total stillness and its approach.

[Maybe the best illustration of the mix of sounds and ideas on Hypersleep was shown by my computer (fittingly): as I write, it picks up words and tries to link them to other sites, usually forming an overall theme; all the links it got from the above text were so varied, with little to no discernable patterns emerging, that while I was writing it finally just opened a pop-up window that said "Holy Jesus, what is this fucking article about?" The REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA Step Up Their Style Game

Well, well, well... the Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) is one of my favorite reality shows and I've been watching a couple seasons. I noticed here that these ladies, whether single, married, or divorced, have been stepping up their style game. They've already dressed nice previously, but in comparison, they're much better, ESPECIALLY Kandi Burruss.

Oh, I know it. I checked out Media Takeout, and found these pics:

Dat's wassup.... we'll see how the next season of RHOA plays out...

HOTT! Check Out Chris Brown's Custom Lambo; Looks Like A Sporty Army Tank!

Chris Brown just never seems to slow down on ATTENTION these days. After the highly publicized nude pic, the blonde hair, the GMA meltdown, and his recent triumph in selling 273,000 copies of his 'F.A.M.E.' album this week, Chris turns heads yet again with his new custom Lambo (could be the same car with new paint job).

Chris Breezy was spotted going to the gym, rolled up in the Lamborghini Gallardo, which looks like a sporty army tank, something out of TRANSFORMERS, and he sure got a crowd around his car. Gotta love his creativity and ambition.

LISARAYE, A 'Semi'-Angel In All-White + Toni Braxton Promoting Reality Show

Wassup? Check out LisaRaye, the woman who defies age and is known for wearing all white; it's a good thing she's not clumsy to drop something dark on her clothes :-)

LisaRaye was spotted out at the same time as Toni Braxton, doing some promoting of their new reality series, Single Ladies, and both of them look good. Toni Braxton is sure givin' it to us in her purple evening gown... I just wonder why both are single.... But Toni Braxton has been through a lot, and it's nice that she gets a reality show to make some money.

DOCTOR WHO TRAILER

Here you go

Classic Rock Attack - Featuring Robin Trower, Thin Lizzy, and Deep Purple

When you’re a classic rock fan you get used to new & supposedly improved versions of your old favorites getting re-issued every few years. Usually it’s just an attempt by the record label to generate some revenue on something they don’t have to spend a lot of money to create. That’s probably the case with this batch, too, but each of these releases gives the consumer some decent value for money.

Robin Trower - At The BBC 1973-1975

First up is Robin Trower At The BBC 1973-1975. Do I even need to tell you how great this is? This 2CD set is a mandatory purchase for Trower fans and anyone who loves outstanding guitar playing. This is Trower leading his excellent trio with James Dewar on bass & vocals during their peak time together. Reg Isidore plays drums on the 1973-74 sessions and is replaced by Bill Lordan for the 1975 recordings. There are two radio sessions from 73 and 74 and one from 75, recorded for John Peel and Bob Harris. They’re not playing live in the studio, but basically re-creating the classics from the essential albums Twice Removed From Yesterday, Bridge Of Sighs and For Earth Below. Most of the versions tend to be a little faster and rawer since they were done quickly in a day at a radio studio. Trower’s playing is inspired as always and the vocals of James Dewar are warm and inviting. The best part is a live BBC concert broadcast from 1975 that rivals the official Live album issued the following year. The 8 page booklet is a little light on photos but contains good liner notes from Malcolm Dome of Kerrang and Classic Rock fame. Might be a little pricy since it’s an import but completely worth it.

Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak and Johnny the Fox: Reissues

I’m sure everyone reading this owns Thin Lizzy’s 1976 twin peaks of Jailbreak and Johnny The Fox on at least 1 format. If you own the original LP’s, the playing surface is probably destroyed and the covers have water rings from inconsiderate friends leaving their empties on them. The CD’s issued in the 90’s suffered from low levels and flimsy packaging, they’re now both double discs with improved sound and fancy full color booklets. The remasters of the original albums sound great and the volume level is up but not overly compressed. The bonus material on the 2nd discs contain some remixes done by Joe Elliot of Def Leppard with some new guitar parts added by Scott Gorham. I was a little worried about this, but they all sound good but I honestly don’t think I’ll listen to them all that often. The BBC sessions, however, I will, especially the extra fired up versions of “Warriors,” “Emerald” and “Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed.” Works in progress like “Scott’s Tune” and “Blues Boy” are cool to hear but, again, probably not gonna play those a whole lot. There’s a very funky instrumental run through of “Johnny The Fox” that’s very cool, you can really hear that they’re having a good time getting the groove right on this song. The booklets come with great photos, liner notes and new interviews conducted by Neil Jeffries. The UK label Back On Black has reissued both of these albums and other jewels from the Thin Lizzy catalog on heavy weight vinyl. If you’re not sure whether to get the CD’s or LP’s, I’d say get ‘em both. You work hard, you deserve it.

Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band: Reissue

Last up is a real classic rock connoisseur favorite, Deep Purple’s 1975 overlooked gem Come Taste The Band. As a huge Ritchie Blackmore fan, I avoided this album for many years but as soon as I let my guard down I realized just what a great album it is. Tommy Bolin’s playing is unfuckingbelievable and he’s one of the guys that helped bond me with the two clowns that run this website. I think I’m on a first name basis with just about everyone on the planet who loves this album. The reissue of Come Taste The Band follows the template laid down by the awesome Machine Head double disc. Disc one is the original album with excellent remastered sound and a bonus track of the 7” edit of “You Keep On Moving.” Disc two is a remixed version by Iron Maiden’s producer Kevin Shirley (he’s also responsible for the awesome audio on the double live Led Zep DVD). The remixes don’t sound drastically different but the guitars and the drums are a bit more upfront. The best part is that the songs are all longer. No fade outs or edits and there are some minor differences in the vocals and lyrics. Bonus tracks include a previously unreleased song called “Same In L.A.” that’s pretty cool but the best is the final track “Bolin/Paice Jam.” Who wouldn’t want to hear almost 6 minutes of Tommy Bolin blazing away accompanied by one of rock’s greatest drummers? Fucking excellent!

NICKI MINAJ As "Mother Nature" In A 'Save Nature' Charity Event

                Nicki Minaj-

...And Ms. Nicki Minaj didn't look out of place at all; this kind of thing is right up her alley. Nicki Minaj performed per Anna Wintour (Vogue Magazine editor-in-chief) for a charity event to save the earth and nature. Other celebs like Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, and former president Bill clinton were there.

Nicki Minaj's outfit was noticeable even though it was in all-black, topped with an half-blonde/half-green Frankenstein wig. She looked so fun, and just GREAT. See more pics:
